Don’t miss: Employers social mobility masterclass: Apprenticeships – Tuesday, 31 May (11am-12pm)
Our next masterclass will explore the role of apprenticeships and how they can drive social mobility.
Employers and training providers rely on apprenticeship schemes to provide new opportunities, upskill people from inside and outside their organisation and contribute to a more innovative, inclusive workforce. One of the many benefits of apprenticeships is their unmatched potential for boosting social mobility and for helping employers to build more diverse and skilled workforces. Despite the apparent opportunities of apprenticeships, we know the apprenticeship system needs to do more to meet this promise.
In this session we’ll be offering guidance on how you – as an employer – can support your apprenticeship programme to deliver on this promise. We’ll provide advice and examples of how you can develop an apprenticeship programme that works for your business, by:
- Understanding how to design an effective apprenticeship scheme
- Offering tips on how to target and improve outreach work
Masterclass details
For this session, the SMC will be joined by Erica Holt-White, Research and Policy, The Sutton Trust who will be sharing the findings from their recent report which looks at how young people are accessing apprenticeships, as well as the outreach employers are undertaking to encourage more young people to take them up.
We will also be joined by Sharon Blyfield, Head of Early Careers & Apprenticeships, Coca-cola Europacific Partners, who will share some of the initiatives that CCEP has undertaken to ensure that through non-traditional and traditional recruitment they have increased representation to support their social mobility pledge.
